Goats and Dairy Animals

In poor communities—like the rural Kenyan village where Rhoda lives—a little dairy goat has tremendous value. Rhoda was struggling to put food on the table for her grandchildren. But then she received several goats from Samaritan’s Purse, along with specialized training which equipped her to take care of them. The goats are providing plenty of nourishing milk for Rhoda’s family. She sold one of the animals for income and is using a portion of her earnings to support her small sewing business. For $70, you can provide a goat or another dairy animal, along with related training and resources, and bring hope in Jesus’ Name to a struggling family.

Through Samaritan's Purse

  • Samaritan's Purse Goats & Dairy Animals provides goats and other dairy animals to give families a source of food and income. One goat produces almost a full gallon of protein-rich milk per week, resulting in plenty of nourishment for families, with leftover milk and cheese to sell at the market. We also provide materials for shefter, start-up food, and veterinary service during the first year of the program. Families learn how to feed and care for the animals, ensuring that they remain healthy and productive.

Chickens and Poultry Projects

Miriam and Cesar were so thankful when Samaritan’s Purse gifted their family with a brood of fuzzy chicks. Our team helped them set up a chicken coop and trained them to raise their chickens. Now, instead of traveling long distances for work, Miriam can stay home with their two children, who delight in helping take care of the chicks. With the income they make from selling nutrient-rich eggs, the couple hopes to eventually buy land to build their own house. Just $14 can supply families in countries like Bolivia, Cambodia, and the Philippines with a dozen chicks, a coop, and basic veterinary care in Jesus’ Name.

Community Water Filters

Many of us wake each day without giving a thought to how we will get the water we need to drink, bathe, or cook. We simply turn on the faucet. But in many areas of the world, people have no choice but to fill jerry cans or buckets with water from muddy pools or rivers where animals bathe. This contaminated water makes the entire family sick. Samaritan’s Purse is working in Bolivia, Ethiopia, and other countries to install household water filters. These simple, durable filters provide an ongoing source of water that is safe to drink, and create open doors for the Gospel. For just $100, you can bless a family with a water filter, and help us share the love of God.

Through Samaritan's Purse

Our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) technicians designed community water filtration units that are customized for our emergency relief operations. The freshwater filtration systems purify water from rivers, streams, and lakes, while the desalination units fitter seawater when our response Is on an island or near a coastal area Our aim is to be able to respond to two disasters simultaneously within 72 hours, with each team capable of providing WASH services for up to 20,000 people for 90 days.
